Gate of Primicia / Slope of Flagellants

The Primicia gate, restored in 2014, is located where the main access to the medieval site was. The previous door sank in 1897 and the current one was rebuilt in 1898.

The access road would probably be flanked by two defensive cubes, one of them used as a tithe house (there are vestiges of the one on the right of the road where a hole has been discovered that probably housed the machinery that would allow the manipulation of a rake that would close the entrance to the medieval castle)

Through this door the processions of the disciplinarians return to the walled enclosure and it is the recommended starting point for the visit of the castle in order to appreciate the grandeur of the lower wall.
