Wall mural of Santa María de la Piscina Archaeological Site

This wall mural was painted in 2017 by the local artist José Uríszar de Alcada Leiva, funded through a Leader fund by the Association for the Development of the Rioja Alta (ADRA). It depicts the important archaeological site of Santa María de la Piscina.

The site includes the Basilica of Santa María de la Piscina (12th century), one of the best examples of the pure Romanesque architecture in La Rioja, a necropolis associated to the Spanish Reconquest (10th to 14th centuries), and both a settlement area with rock-cut houses and the remains of defensive structures or watchtowers (10th to 14th centuries).
